Kendal Festival of Food

Roger Mason was one of a host of successful local food producers who spoke at a ‘Meet the Producers’ evening  as part of the inaugural Kendal Festival of Food.


The event which took place at The Assembly Room in Kendal Town Hall, featured six local food producers who help create the ‘sense of place’ which makes the Kendal area so special. Roger gave an entertaining but educational presentation, explaining the merits and addressing the ethical issues around veal rearing, as well as telling the story of Heaves Farm Veal.


Other speakers included:

John Holmes, from the Westmorland Damson Association - all things damson.

Richard Metcalf from Crook Hall Farm - cows & sheep.

Peter McCafferty from Quiggins Kendal Mintcake - all things minty.

David Knipe from Lane Farm - chicken trussing.

This was followed by a lighthearted demonstration on the art of cheesemaking. from Bob Kitching of Leagrams Organic Cheese.


Kendal Food Festival is taking place from Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October and featured a wide range of events, demonstrations and promotions from producers, shops and restaurants across the town.
