WCAS school open days

Heaves Farm again hosted the Westmorland Agricultural Society (WCAS) school farm open days.

Held over 2 days, 1300 children attended from 29 schools across the region where they experienced some of the things that take place on a modern farm.

Lots of help was provided from volunteers young and old, who gave demonstrations including sheep shearing and showering, milking cows, dry stone walling, working sheep dogs, hatching eggs and taking the children on a nature walk. As well as being a great hands on learning experience it also helps to help make the connection with the origins of food.
